Airships over Olsztyn
A plaque depicting an airship flying over Olsztyn can be found on the facade of the town hall. It has the number Z.IV on the side. This is the famous "Zeppelin Airship from Luneville". It got its nickname when it got lost in the fog in April 1913 and made a forced landing in France, in the town of Luneville, where it was interned for a day. Why is it on the wall of the Olsztyn Town Hall? A visit to Dywity near Olsztyn will help to solve this mystery. It was there that an airship base was established in early 1914, where Z.IV was stationed. Today, we can see its humble remains and a scientific journey dedicated to airships from Dywity.
